How do we to change back to PAYG from PAYG1 ?

To go the other way I remember I dialed 41146, is there a similar number to do the opposite?

Hi @Cosmos

There is some confusion.

If you are have a Big Value Bundle and don't have sufficient credit to pay for the following months bundle your PAYG account will automatically change to PAYG 1.  If you are already on PAYG 1 and would like to purchase a Big Value Bundle, this information is here: Big Value Bundles

There are only two options PAYG 1 or an inclusive monthly bundle.

Thanks AnnS but this isn't to do with bundles.

If you look here you'll see there are two pay as you go tariffs:

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/terms-and-conditions/consumer/price-plans/mobile/payg-airtime-conditions-...

I would like to get back to the original one (which they now seem to be calling 'Pay as you go Simply').

35p / min, 20p / text, and £2 for 50Mb data.

Yes @Cosmos I thought that was your  question. You will pay 20p per minute for calls and 20p per text, when you have spent £1.00 on usage you won't be charged extra for the day.

Unfortunately,  it's PAYG 1 or having a bundle but if you reach £1 during the day it will save you some money.

Thanks AnnS. Yes 20p/min, 20p/text with a £1 limit is the PAYG1 tariff right now, though it changes to £1 for the first text or phone call from 12 Jan 2021. And the £1 only includes 50Mb data instead of the current 500Mb.

But there is another PAYG tariff: 35p/min, 20p/text. It still exists, as you can see from the document detailing the charges and terms and conditions.

I used to be on that tariff until I opted to change to PAYG1, but now that they're not honouring the deal they offered I'd like to go back to the original tariff. I'd like to know if anyone knows how to do that.

Hi @Cosmos

The problem is once you have changed to the new PAYG 1 tariff, it is impossible to go back to a tariff that was replaced with PAYG 1 or Big Value Bundles.  The PAYG tariffs are here: Vodafone PAYG as you can see Simply is not offered. The tariff is still there on your link you included for anyone who has made the decision not to change.

However, PAYG 1 is cheaper and you still have 500mb of data to use throughout the day and if you are a heavy user you don't pay anything more than £1.00 per day.

I am sure the Social Team will get to the thread and let you know if it is at all possible to return to Simply.

Thanks AnnS, that does answer my question, there isn't a way back.

Unfortunately PAYG1 isn't cheaper after 12 Jan 2021. If you send just one short text in a day, it'll cost £1.

I think they might have to offer a way back, otherwise PAYG1 looks like a ploy to get people of PAYG.

Also after 12 Jan, it's £1 only gets you 50Mb not 500Mb.

This is also a concern for me. Once you have spent £1 you get so many texts, data and minutes but I wouldn't use any of these. I send about three texts in six months. Extras that I will never use

And doing this during lockdown is a low blow. 500MB a day was a realistic amount for remote schooling for kids, or remote working for adults. But without tying you to a contract when they go back. 50Mb on the other hand is completely hopeless.

And since it's the cheapest way to use Vodafone for normally light users, it's going to affect the least well off people.
