Want to get a pay monthly contract and keep BVB number. How?

Currently i have a big value bundle of £10 on an old unlocked iphone.

I want to start a monthly contract with a more modern iphone but i need to keep the current number. which as i understand it, is possible to do by using the vodafone website to change the number.

First of all when i go to the pay monthly section it only allows me to 'add a plan'

i dont really want a second plan. just a new fresh monthly contract, does it really have to be attached the same account - so i would have a big value bundle and a contract?

also the instructions for moving a number from what i can see are slightly confusing.

it mentions entering your old number and some numbers on the back of the sim... but then it says to enter the 'temporary number'

what number would that be? surely if im getting a contract the number wont be temporary it would be a new permanent number - which i want to change to my old one.

so thats two things i need to know how to do.
