I'm going to be in China for six months, and although I have a Chinese SIM I will need to keep my Vodafone PAYG SIM active to receive verification texts from UK banks and the like.
Are there any charges on PAYG to receive texts or calls while abroad? Also, how long does my SIM have before it's deactivated and does receiving texts keep it activated, or do I need to topup?
Thanks

Hi @nickykw
See here: Travelling Abroad
As far as keeping the SIM active, as you would do at home in the UK, you need to keep the SIM active with regular chargeable activity or top up and make sure you this is done before the 180 day disconnection time limit.
Roaming is only intended for short periodic travel and this is something to remember.

What about receiving a text? That page doesn't mention it.
