PAYG : re-connection of dis-continued number

I am trying to see if I can retrieve an old phone number that was on the vodafone PAYG network. Although rarely used, I make a point of sending an SMS every few months to keep it active. Unfortunately, due to some serious personal issues, I took my eye off the ball and after 6 months when I recently tried to activate by SMS was told the line had been discontinued.

Please, please is there any way to get this old number back ?  Any help would be much appreciated as I had the number for over 20 years and losing it feels like losing part of my life!

I just tried to get my PAYG number reconnected and was told it was not possible.  I am DESPARATE to get my number back working as in the age of OTP one time passwords so many critical bank and other accounts are linked to it. I am pretty sure the number has not been reassigned or ported. Please could you help me find a solution to this major problem. I am happy to pay any reconnection fee. I just need my number back as I have had it for over 20 years both as contract and then PAYG. Where there is a will there is a way. Thank you.

Hey @deleoniya I am sorry to hear that we are unable to reconnect the number. Even if it has not yet been recycled, it's not always possible for us to reconnect it if it has been disconnected for longer than 90 days. There is nothing we can do on this platform as we have no account access here unfortunately so it would be down to the support channels to run their checks and make the decision. 


Hey @deleoniya I can absolutely appreciate the upset and concern this will have caused as I know how important our numbers can be to us. We would need to run some checks on the number to see if it has been recycled yet, and we would need to see how long it has been fully disconnected for before we could advise if it is available. If you reach out to the Social Media Team, they can look into this for you.
