Does a top up expire within a time period as I have noticed that when I top up my 3 children's mobiles that it disappears very quickly and they hardly use their phones for texts/calls. If so then why? And then what is the best way to ensure they have some credit on there without spending a fortune each month.

Hi @Taylor6
Your children's phones are probably on the PAYG 1 tariff and will be charged at £1.00 per day on the days the phones are used for outbound calls, texts or data.
If your children don't make many calls or send texts, I suspect the phones may be accessing the internet and using some data, the nature of smartphones is to be permanently connected to the internet. Try turning off mobile data and turning on WiFi, you can also enter an incorrect APN setting and this will stop the phones making a connection.
I always think PAYG 1 is a expensive way to use PAYG when you can purchase a monthly bundle for £10.00 from here: PAYG
A good way to see where the credit is going is to download the My Vodafone application on the phones, you can also top up from the Application.
Also take a look at Voxi, still Vodafone here: Voxi

Thanks for you message, they have their mobile data switched off which is why I am confused as to where it goes. We were going to download the App but phones are quite old and it didn't work.
With the £10 bundle do you pay £10 every month?
Thanks
