Unwanted SIM?

The other day my wife entered into an online chat with a live Vodafone staff member regarding replacing her PAYG phone. Everything went OK so my wife ordered the 'phone which arrived with a SIM but as she wished to keep the old number she swapped the old SIM to the new 'phone & all is OK. However, before the 'phone arrived I,  received a message to say that a new SIM was on its way by post & it arrived the day after the 'phone. When I received the initial e-mail to say a new SIM was on its way I assumed that the new 'phone would arrive without a SIM but as I have said it arrived with a new one. I did not query this at the time because I did not know if the old SIM would fit in the new 'phone. What is odd is that the e-mail advising me of the new SIM was mailed to my e-mail address but my wife's e-mail address is entirely different & I'm sure my e-mail address was not mentioned in the on-line chat. I know it's no big deal & I can just keep the new SIM but wondered if anyone else has experienced this rather odd situation.
