Billed double for mobile contract

Hi,

I recently renewed my home broadband and decided to include a SIM only plan. I was charged double for my contract for the first month. I was told it was to cover Dec to Jan and Jan to Feb yet my current bill also states it covers Jan to Feb. Can someone shed some light on this?
