I called some 1-800 and other freephone numbers while in Canada from my pay monthly Vodafone mobile recently expecting these to be included in my £6/day roam further allowances (Canada has the same country code +1 as the USA and these were mostly Candadian businesses) but Vodafone has charged me as if I had made calls to the USA (@ approx £2/min).
Is this correct? I have ended up with around £200 worth of calls that I don't think I should have been charged for.
Thanks

Will do. I sent a message to the Social media escalation team on Saturday as requested by Mark above. I'll post back if/when I hear anything.

I'm sorry to tell you that 0800 numbers are only free in the country of origin, that is why you've been charged.

So you agree that calling a 1-800 number from Canada to a Canadian company should be free? and calling a US company on their 1-800 number from Canada should be charged?
Have to say, I wasn't aware freephone numbers when roaming would be included.

Hi,i don't make the rules, possibly to avoid excessive amounts being charged,if u remember
all uk 0800 numbers were chargeable at one time.

Thanks for the further replies. Just as an update, I've had a couple of people from Vodafone looking at this but I'm not sure either of them has fully understood the issue. In any case, I've explained it to them again and am awaiting their further investigation.
To clarify:
- I made calls from Canada to Canadian businesses on their freephone numbers and was charged for all of them as if I was calling abroad to the US from Canada (£2/min).
- I made calls from the US to US and Canadian businesses on their freephone numbers and these were all included in the global roaming allowances.
So it seems to me that Vodafone are incorrectly treating all calls to North American freephone numbers (all starting with 1800, 1888 etc) as being made to the US and these are therefore included when roaming in the US but not when roaming in Canada.
This is inconsistent and seems unfair to me.
Thanks again

@kofsw4 Forgive me if I'm wrong, but this looks very similar to a post I've seen on our Social Media channels. I believe this has now been resolved? If not, please let us know.

Thanks for the reply @Adam, I've been emailing with the social media escalation team and posting here on this forum but nowhere else. Although I've had a couple of replies, the issue unfortunately remains unresolved.
If this issue is being discussed elsewhere, please could you point me towards that.
Thanks

Not yet, I emailed a security pin for the third or fourth time yesterday.
