Can anyone help, I cancelled my contract in may this year at a Vodafone store, the staff member assured me that all aspects of my contract including insurances were cancelled. I was then charged a month later for the insurances, this and more charges,  has now been passed on to Vodafone’s debt agents and they are constantly hassling me, has anyone else had this experience and how was it resolved. I don’t feel that I should be penalised for their mistake

When a person cancels a contract then 30 days notice is required. i.e They do not wish to take their mobile number with them to another UK network.

More info here 》 What-happens-when-I-leave/How-do-I-cancel-my-Pay-monthly-contract.

The exception is if a person is using a Pac to take their mobile number to a new network. Then 30 days notice isn't required as the contract is cancelled as soon as you give the Pac to the new network and they use it.

When a person cancels it takes 2-4 weeks then to produce the final bill.

More info here  》 When-will-I-receive-my-final-bill.

After that is paid via direct debit then a sorry your leaving letter and a £0 bill is sent which confirms account ceasure.

I'm assuming you didn't get these.

It's always best practice to keep your Direct Debit in place until these have been recieved and all payments for the contract and any add ons like insurance have been cleared.

Has the contract itself definitely been cancelled. You've not been charged ?

They can also check in regards to the "insurance policy"  to see how payments for that are processed i.e it could be a month in arrears.

I would now suggest to speak with Customer services  or the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries  as they have account access to help.

There is no account access via this forum.

Also this may have been reported on your Credit File with a default that lasts 6 years. Perhaps use Experian or one of the other routes to check your Credit File.

The Vodafone Social Media Teams also have a dedicated Credit File Specialist Team who can investigate this if there has been one applied to your Credit File.

I wish you all the best with this situation @Bstulisa
