Hi,
I have a new unlocked Motorola Razr phone. I've tried to switch my phone over to the E-Sim and it doesn't work. (I should say I have a Sim only contract with Vodafone)
Vodafone chat help have been less than helpful, they try and active the E-Sim in the new phone and de-activate my physical Sim in the old phone. This fails and I have to switch back. They’ve tried 3 times. They said they’ll put in a ticket for further technical help but they just ended up de-activated my old sim without telling me and the E-Sim still didn’t work.
The problem is the Sim Network unlock pin, Vodafone pin’s don’t work and I need to talk to someone that actually knows what there talking about. I don’t want another QR code to scan because it doesn’t work.
If it’s something wrong with the phone, then I can go back to Motorola and ask but I need to speak to someone that knows it’s a problem with the phone not Vodafone.
This is extremely frustrating and I want to talk to someone that know what they’re doing so I don’t go through the same conversation again & again.

Has anyone actually tried it? Request an eSIM and scan the QR code in the PDF - do not scan the code on the page that says this is your QR Code, that never works.
Ok, if it doesn't work you will need to go to a Vodafone store and get a replacement SIM though.

Hi @56kennington - no update as of yet, I've passed along your feedback and it's with the team now; whether they plan to act upon it or not is in their hands as this would be company wide.

Ok thanks but this is taking far too long. Can you please ask them if I should wait or not? I have been a customer customer for 15 years and I have this new RAZR now I can't use so if I can't have a definitive answer from you I'm switching to EE as o know they support this phone on esim. Thanks

Did you try entering the eSIM code manually instead of scanning the QR code in the PDF?

Thanks for your tips. I have not switched my physical SIM card for an e SIM yet as I can't risk being without a phone should it not work. As the Moto RAZR 5g is not on Vodafone's e sim compatible list it's clear it's not compatible. Do you know of anyone who tried doing what you have suggested successfully or have you managed to get a Moto RAZR 5g to work on a Vodafone e SIM? Thanks

Just because it's not on the compatible phone list doesn't mean it won't work. Vodafone don't sell it, so why would jt be on their list? We had this with wifi calling. It works on many other phones not on the Vodafone list, but Vodafone staff just point to it when it doesn't work and say it's not supported. It's the easy answer for lazy support staff.
The Pixel 6 Pro isn't on the eSIM list, but my eSIM works. eSIMs should follow the same standard on any phone, If it works on one, it should work on another.

Thanks for your reply. That's good to hear so I could try and go back to physical SIM if it does not work. Have you seen the post by Bulmer of 070321 at 820PM? This shows that when he tried it did not work, hence my hesitation.

I can see TJ has passed this on already @56kennington - we're not able to provide any timescale about this I'm afraid.
