I had a chat earlier with one of the online support agents, who told me that it is not only possible but free to have a static IP on home broadband.
However, having found no reference to it anywhere else and several to the contrary, I wonder if she was confusing home and business broadband even though I did specify home.
Can someone from Voda please confirm? Is a static IP on the WAN side of HOME broadband an option?
Thanks!

Looks like it might have been too popular for its own good, message below is what I was advised when I asked for one:
"Unfortunately we are unable to provide a static IP address at the moment. Due to some teething issues we have had to pull the availibilty of static IP addresses for the moment. I'm sorry for any inconveniance this might cause."

I've just moved to Vodafone (from PlusNet Business) and I went with Vodafone Business because it offered a static IP - Vodafone was very clear with me that the Home products couldn't offer a static IP. Obviously, this thread started back in 2017, but I thought it might help to post an update...
...right, now back to finding out why my Vodafone Business connection keeps changing IP 😉

I have a home BB with the standard vf router. 2 weeks ago I asked to have a static IP address, man said it was generally only on Business accounts but no problem he would set it up. Within 2 hours it was up and running. No problems.

Sounds like you got lucky - bit of a result anyway!

Just in case anyone is curious, you can still request a static IP address for home broadband in 2021 via vodaphone online chat. Just got mine.

I too have static IP as a home broadband customer.
I'd called as I was having problems with the supplied router setting up local static IPs on their
supplied router. Guy just offered me static IP out of blue, I said yes that would help... not believing
I'd get what he'd said and knowing it wouldn't help the local IP address issue... AND bang I have a
static IP. Been with them 2 years now and have same IP external address.
I managed to get the password, username somehow, it might have been same guy that gave me it.
I ditched their router for my old Draytek and haven't looked back.

If it's anything like PlusNet's static address offering (all be it on the business account)
In their online control panel there is a tickbox, that once ticked, tells you what your address is... and they assign it to your login/router so it is issued the same one each time.
Nothing for the end user to do apart from enable the service on the portal.
Now it will be very interesting if like you say, Vodafone have said you can get a Static address, how that works, and what you have to request (maybe they all are? and hence the refusal to allow different hardware)

Ok - ignore the above, as I was typing, you replied with the answer

Invisible sounds right - VF tells its DHCP server to make your address static, your router needn't know any different, just keeps asking for an address and always gets the same one.
Hope they're ok with a non-Vodafone router on the end of the line... otherwise I'll be looking for how to make their router act as a dumb bridge.
