No voicemail symbol

Recently I started getting text alerts for voicemail - rather than the usual symbol alert.

I've tried calling the voicemail and reset the setting to symbol (4) alerts .. but this just resulted in me getting a text saying I had 0 voicemails !!

 

Phone is Pixel 3XL

Hey @jbainbridge 

This does sound unusual. Does your voicemail tell you if you have any messages when you dial 121? I'd recommend turning your voicemail off by dialing 1211 and then back on with 1210. You can see more information on managing your voicemail on our support pages.

Dial 121 and select option 4 > option 3 > and choose what notification you want to use by pressing the relevant option. If you have done this and it isn't working, I suggest you try choosing an option you don't want, hang up, redial and select symbol alerts again and see if that fixes it.
