I'm out of contract with Vodafone on pay monthly. I have found a cheaper deal via a third party cashback website, also with Vodafone. After doing some research, it seems like I might have to request to transfer to a Vodafone PAYG contract (which apparently takes 30 days) to then be able to take out a new contract and keep my existing number.

Hi @Orangutan23
The forum search facility will reveal that using a PAC and porting out and back in work well, the entire process will be completed within 48 hours. The best time to submit a PAC is the beginning of the week, numbers don't port over a weekend.
If you are out of contract there won't be any further line rental to pay and using the PAC immediately cancels the old contract and saves paying an extra 30 days line rental waiting for the number to transfer to PAYG.
When the number moves back continue to use the same online account. Apart from the usual pro rata during the change, everything else will be the same. It is also recommended to set up an alternative contact number on your online account to receive the security text whilst the number is in the porting process.
There is further information here: Cancellation

Great, thanks for your help, it's nice to have extra confirmation as I'd read elsewhere that it wasn't possible.
