Recived this text from Vodafone at 3.05am this morning, ive not made contact with them for years "Thank you for your request - you've now got unlimited UK calls to mobiles and landlines (starting 01, 02, 03). You'll see the charge for this on your monthly bill." Does anybody know why I've received this and what the extra charges are? Thanks

Hi @Ross1981

If you have an old retired plan, Vodafone would have been identifying customers and moving them onto one of the latest unlimited plans, but this should have been at the same monthly line rental.

However, although the text would have been automated, you should not have received this at such an unsociable time.

If you still have an account, it would be worth checking your online account, you should be able to see the changes from there.  Alternatively, speak to Vodafone through Twitter or Facebook channels here: Contact the Social Team

Yes, I had this SMS at about the same un-sociable time.

When I woke up, I panicked having thought that my number had been spoofed. The wording of the sms was terrible. Implying additions to my bill.

I logged into my online account, saw the unlimited option and immediately removed it.

Then, 4hrs later believe it or not, I get another text from Vodafone, Thanking me for being a loyal customer and saying that the unlimited calls were being added free of charge! Too late! I've already deleted them!

They not only wrongly worded the first SMS, but sent the SMS messages the wrong way around.

We should have received the warning of what was going to happen so as not to fear the worst!!!!!

Idiots!

Sparky, got the same second text as you. Did go into my account online and the cost per month hadn't changed so left it alone. Some one must have pressed the wrong button somewhere.

Hey there @Ross1981 and @sparky17 - I'm very sorry about the wording of the SMS. I can assure you that the Unlimited Minutes explained in the texts are free of charge. If you would like us to check your account to make sure everything is okay, don't hesitate to drop us a DM on social media.

Thanks for your reply, presumably you can also still call 191 if you don't use social media
