Some help please. I am out of contract with Vodafone. I am SIM only. Vodafone have told me on web chat directly that I need to move my number to PAYG which will take a month and then fill a Keep My Number form if I want to keep my number..
Carphone Warehouse have told me I don't need to bother with all that at all and they can just upgrade me directly and I will automatically keep my number. Can I believe the Carphone Warehouse salesman?
I don't know who to believe and who is correct. I don't want the hassle of changing to PAYG if not necessary but don't want to get this wrong and find I should have done what Vodafone said.
Please can someone give me a definitive answer. Who is correct?

We're unable to match third party site offerings, but all our deals can be found on the website here, so you have all your options before deciding what to do 🙂

I understand that Beth, but the question still not answered clearly. Can I simply upgrade an existing monthly SIM only contract (NOT start a new account) keeping my number without going through the hassle of PAYG/KMN as CW claim they can do?

Yes you can, but you won't get as good a deal price wise.

Yes, you can process an upgrade through Vodafone directly which will keep your number and simply upgrade the contract. If you're looking to take anything out that's not directly through Vodafone but using our network such as a Carphone Warehouse deal, then you'll need to follow the above process of moving to PAYG and then completing the form to keep your original number

For anyone else facing the same issue here is what actually happened today. I went along to Carphone Warehouse (now in Curry's actually) and easily upgraded my Vodafone monthly SIM only contract. No hassle. No need to switch to PAYG at all. A few clicks on a computer screen and it was all done. Easypeasy. The price was identical apart from a slightly lower cash back than if I had started a completely new contract but the saving in my time was enormous and more than compensated for the slightly lower cash back. I do wish Vodafone would make it clearer on their website what is possible and what not.
