Hi, I am wondering if someone can help me.
I had a Vodafone phone back in 2015. I am in the process of buying a house this year and are debt free. Apart from this default which has been place by Vodafone which is dragging my score down a lot.
The debt is only for £500 which I can pay. However I have never been contacted for this by mail, email, phone etc. I found this out years ago. I went to pay this in 2017 however it had been passed to a debt collectors, I contacted them and they had returned the debt to Vodafone? Somebody advise that they would contact me and i've received nothing. I've not moved house since this has been created either.
I just need help to get this settled and removed.
Thank you

The best way to try and get this removed is to speak with the Vodafone Social Media Team's via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries.
They have a dedicated Credit File Specialist Team who can investigate whether the default is warranted or not.
Vodafone are allowed to add a default to a person's Credit File without having to advise them if they feel all means of collecting payment have been exhausted.
If it is warranted then it would remain on your Credit File for 6 years but paying the amount would change it's status from Outstanding to Settled which would look better.
If not warranted then they'll contact the Credit Houses and it would then take around 30 working days to be removed.
I appreciate how damaging a default can be from my own personal experience so I wish you all the best with this @hannahmacmac
