Hi

Hope you and the family are well

I was told twice whilst on Vodafone website chat, that I can get a NUC in 30 days once I had bought a new phone. I was in the process of finding out which is the best phone to use in multiple countries whilst I'm at work. EU, UK & USA.
Now I have my new phone, I'm told I have to wait until I've paid 3 bills !!

thats nearly 4 months !!

I have the chat transcript.
if you are not able to help me, could you point me in the direction of who can please?

thanks

kind regards

Will

Hello @Tiredeyes69

A person using a Pay Monthly sim needs to have paid x 3 bills on time and used the sim card in the phone for 30 days in the Uk making calls etc.

For Payg it's just using the sim card in the  phone for 30 days making calls etc while in the Uk.

This is detailed in the unlock-code-request form.

There isn't a way to circumvent this with Vodafone Uk. There isn't another department you can speak to.

It's all system driven.

The only other options are is a person to use a shop that advertises they unlock phones or use a reputable online unlocking site or return the phone for refund If they have a cooling off period.

With Vodafone UK that's 14 days.

An iPhone is not unlocked via inputting a Nuc {unlocking code} like other phone models are, but instead is unlocked remotely by Apple themselves and their Database.

So no actual Nuc is sent by Vodafone UK.

The Vodafone Network lets a person know by email it's unlocking has been requested to Apple after accepting your Nuc online unlock request. (Please Check Spam Inboxes too)

Please Note > The iPhone isn't actually usually unlocked to all networks at this stage when Vodafone email you.

What happens is Apple then process the Networks request and occasionally this can take Apple approximately from a few days upto a further 30+ days sometimes from Vodafone's email to complete an unlock request made by a Network.

To complete the process please periodically insert an active i.e. connects to mobile network data, alternative Networks Sim Card in the iPhone with hooking upto iTunes is only typically needed if its an iPhone 4 or older although it wouldn't harm to do so.

From the iPhone 5 onwards there's not normally the need to hook up to iTunes to complete the process.

When it's unlocked you should see a pop up message and the alternatives Networks name will show in the iPhone's status bar.

Thank you BandOfBrothers.
a very detailed explanation.
very much appreciated.
just a football ache carrying two mobile phones around and tbh, all my family apart from my mom can iMessage me on the new phone that has my EE number, assosciated with it.
so that's pretty cool.
I wanted two separate numbers

one Vodafone for work, so I can give that to my new customers.
and one from EE for my family and friends.
I have an eSim ready and waiting for when another 3 months and 1 week are up.
guess I'll just lug around 2 phones, just so my mom can text.
Or Maybe I just ask mom to change to my new work number.
then I'm free of my second phone.
takes a while for things to process in the brain !!

much appreciated your help buddy.
stay safe 😊

You stay safe too @Tiredeyes69

In regards to esim's please see this thread on how Vodafone Uk urrently support the esim at the moment 》Network-queries/Esim.

My preference is to usually use a dual sim duos hybrid phone so that I can use two different network sim cards if I wish. My last one was the Samsung Note 9 which I purchased direct from Samsung Uk as then the phone is already unlocked to all networks.

I liked this because in some places due to fringe coverage one wouod work better than the other.   :Smiling:

Right now I'm using the Note 10 which unfortunately isn't a dual sim option

Take care.
