My beloved Note 4 finally keeled over but this luckily coincided with my neighbour upgrading, so I now have a nice condition second hand Samsung S10 in hand.
We're both with vodafone and the phone works happily with my sim. All well and good so far.
I want to use the dual sim feature as I have a second sim (old virginmedia account) for a different line and it saves me carting two phones around. Putting in the second sim tells me that the phone needs an unlock code and stops both sims from connecting. Taking it out allows the main vodafone sim to work as expected.
I've submitted unlock requests through the vodafone page but the reply (on both IMEIs) was that they were not supplied by vodafone so an unlock code could not be provided. I asked the neighbour if she had got it through TalkTalk or some other MVNO, but she has confirmed that she is with vodafone directly and obtained that phone from them.
I tried a third party service who also said they couldn't provide an unlocking code as the IMEIs weren't "on their database" yet (though thankfully did actually refund me!)
Does anybody have any ideas on how I can proceed from here? Is there any way of establishing which carrier is responsible for these IMEIs and can provide an unlock code? There are lots of free "IMEI" checker websites but from reading around it seems like it's not a good idea to be handing over information to them.

Hey there @JayDerby - I understand how important it is to get this sorted. If the original phone contract for the Samsung S10 is in your neighbours name could they please get in touch with us on social media? We'll then be able to see if the device was purchased directly through us and we can escalate this to get the device unlocked.
When you ask your neighbour to contact us, please make sure they include a link back to this forum thread and their mobile/account number to save then repeating anything you have already said.
