Series 4 Apple Watch Cellular doesn’t work

So, in typical Vodafone fashion they have come out with a new feature and product that doesn’t work at launch - in-fact it does several unannounced and unauthorised credit checks.

So I received my brand new iPhone and Apple Watch today and I have to admit, they look fantastic, after opening the iPhone box and just seeing the magnificence that is the phone I am definitely happy with my purchase.

I open up the oddly packaged watch box and start to set it up, everything is fine except for when I got to the mobile data setup section- at first it looked promising a Vodafone log-in screen, “Awesome” I thought, so I logged in and all of a sudden it was asking me to add a subscription for £5 per month.. I thought this was strange as I was already paying for the watch now you’re trying to charge me more for a subscription, I knew it seems to be a mistake so I just glanced at the terms, it seemed normal just about linking them together so it made sense, I went ahead and clicked add subscription knowing that I would just call Vodafone and explain the situation if they tried to charge me more.

Anyway, it shows me a loading screen and I’m simply waiting for it to complete the link between my devices.

After a short while it went to a blank white screen and then... what’s this... I HAVE FAILED A CREDIT CHECK AND I HAVENT BEEN CHARGED?!?!?

So not only did it fail.. Vodafone has performed a credit check, without authorisation just to link it to my existing plan that I was already credit checked on?

Good one Vodafone, will be returning the watch and the device and leaving the network for good, this is the final straw, I’ve had nothing but trouble with you for 7 years and I’ve stuck by you, but you just cannot get anything right first time, EVER.

wondering if anyone else had this happen to them.

Hi everyone,

OP here, I can’t believe this issue is still effecting some people, I get emails almost daily about updates for this, it’s crazy to think it still hasn’t been sorted for everyone.

i can now finally say all of my issues are resolved and everything is working fine, you have to be persistent and contact the directors team, standard help from the tech team does not work.

Contact Nick Jeffries team and hopefully you will get I resolved like I did.

No  , they just keep saying tec are sorting it

I was told to go into store also and left Watch with them for over an hour then picked it up and they said all sorted and give it 24 hours and be ok , 8 days later several calls to Vodafone because still don’t work

Said that to me everytme I phone and gave it 4   24 hours and still don’t show data

I waited 4 weeks for series 4 to come and they sent me rose gold instead of space grey then had to wait another 5 weeks for the space grey to arrive, had it 2 weeks now and been on the phone to Vodafone everyday complaining that the cell does not work , on Watch it says no sim no data carrier unavailable so keep telling them and they done 3 sim swops and each time said give it 24 hours but still nothing and now just phoned them again and was told to give it 5 days because they are trying to sort the issue out , Watch only has 8 days left to take it back it’s a complete nightmare

My Apple Watch says no data and carrier not available, had watch 3 weeks and countless phone calls and several sim swops later and still not working, Vodafone keep saying it sorted give it 24 hours ..it’s had 5  24 hours now , feel like taking it back as it’s not working as it should

Same here. Had it almost working at one point, but now back to square one. Six weeks now and still trying to get this sorted out 🤬

Not good is it , they shouldn’t sell them until they have it sorted but bet they still are ,

The thing is that is easy to find informatorom about that they’ve tested Apple Watch MONTHS before eSim started and in their opinion it works. For some people yes but what about the rest? Everyone pays every month for all that data, support, stores etc but when you need something suddenly it’s impossible and whole tech team and directors office cannot do this.

I can’t add data to Apple Watch because it keeps saying I have to many devices on my plan and to remove one in order to add Watch , I only have one device on my plan and phoned Vodafone and said this , been in store and said same but keep being told it will be sorted but had watch 3 months now and still can’t use it ,

That's bad @trevwealthall but the good news is that the Vodafone Social Media Teams here have Account access so please let them catch up with your thread and hopefully they'll get you the help needed to clarify the issue and get it resolved.
