Transferring info between IPhones

Have bought a new IPhone 8 and want to transfer info from my IPhone 6s using my Vodafone monthly contract sim.

How do I do this please?

It should just be a case of inserting your Vodafone sim card as the account and number is held on it and then use your iTunes back ups when setting up the new iPhone.

I should have said that the new IPhone is sim free and that I want to retain my phone number.

You pay monthly contract will be airtime only and you are able to use the SIM in any phone you wish. 

When you insert the SIM, you should get a message from Vodafone to download the correct APN settings, text message settings should automatically instal.  You can also text WEB to 40127, this will configure the APN settings and update the SIM on the network.  Synchronising to Apple will download the APN settings and move any content to the new iphone.
