Hi. After waiting for a Miui upgrade for over a year Vodafone has rolled one out today. I've done the upgrade and I am unable to enable my SIM card and hence unable to make calls. Any ideas? TIA

Hi everyone, thanks so much for flagging and rest assured this is something we've been working on with the manufacturer to get you all connected to what you love again.

To keep you all updated, Xiaomi have advised that a patch is going through final testing through their side and we're looking to verify this from our side today.

All going well, this patch should be with you over the next few days, by next week at the very latest.

Please don't try any troubleshooting steps such as a factory reset or arranging a repair of the phone as once the software is out, this will resolve things for you.

Once we have confirmation that the fix is working and when it can be released, we'll let you know ASAP here.

Dont do any of that

They've literally just told me they will fit if with a new update

Just a game a waiting now

Fortunately I found this thread before doing a factory reset.  I spent an hour on the phone with Vodafone yesterday and the engineers took so long to look into the issue that on 3 occasions I was shunted back to the beginning of the queue and had to start again.  Absolutely hopeless so I gave up.

I logged a fault through the handset's service and feedback app (which seemed to appear with the version 11 upgrade) and I have been whatsapping with someone with a Chinese number.  I have run the error log whilst reinserting the sim card and have taken a video of the screen whilst doing so and sent both off and they are looking into it.  Hey - there's a screen recording app!!!

Doesn't seem even remotely joined up.  I sent the person a link to this thread and the one on the Xiaomi website - can't post the link here but its quite easy to find - but whether anyone will join the dots remains to be seen.

Extremely frustrating

It doen't make sense. I can receive texts and calls, I can send texts but I cannot make calls/ browse using 4g.

Where the signal bars should be on the top right of the phone has a sim card with an x in the middle and when i go to Settings > SIM card & mobile networks > none of the settings are available to be pressed.

Similarly to the above this issue has occurred since I updated the software yesterday (11/05/2020).

Are others having similar issues? Anyone know how to resolve yet?

Thanks

Sit back and enjoy the Vodafone/ Xiaomi pantomime is the advice I'm afraid right now. Vodafone trying to blame Xiaomi and Xiaomi blame Vodafone. Meanwhile I'm looking for a better phone deal because of its not sorted by Friday I'm cancelling my direct debit to Vodafone. I'm not paying for a service they can't provide.

I've been on live chat (again) since 8:45 this morning threatening them with The Telecoms Ombudsman stating The Sale of Goods Act 1979 and The Consumer Rights Act. They just keep trying to get me to contact Xiaomi. Have demanded a replacement phone for legal reasons against the Sales of Goods Act 1979 and my mental health.  Will be comtacting The Ombudsman, Martin Lewis and Joe Lycett if they can't provide me with a replacement device.

Yes they are trying to push this Xiaomi's way but I don't pay Xiaomi each month. I pay Vodafone for a service they are unable to provide. My phone was purchased from Vodafone and I am led to believe Vodafone check the updates prior to them being given out. Somebody has messed up. Vodafone simply need to give people phones free of charge of they can't sort this mess out. A similar spec android phone.

winks

Same problem here - after many problems with Apple I don't get too excited about firmware upgrades. If it ain't broke etc.

So... after a couple of calls to Vodafone UK yesterday and being told a 'fix' was 2 weeks away and they tried to put me through to Xiaomi technical dept  I told them 'not my problem' the phone was purchased from them on a contract , was broken and needed sorting as I was running a business from home. Vodafone are replacing handset today and guess what? I wont be upgrading firmware.

I suggest everyone does the same.

Just got off the phone to Xiaomi 08009160561 and they said they know it's their problem and they are working on an update to send out this week. Very polite chap, sounds like we just have to let them get on with it. Hopefully asap!

Thanks for the update!

Same here raised a complaint with Vodafone refering goods and services act. Still didn't care as it was Xiaomi's problem. Said I felt had little option apart from seek advice from Ofcom, and still nothing, almost a little don't bother they will support us attitude... I will escalate  accordingly. As a Vodafone forum, supprised noone from Vodafone has any comment... Well maybe not supprised
