My phone appears to be performing an upgrade. I am getting the constant rotating sign which has been running for four hours. I am not sure of that is a genuine upgrade or something else. Please can you advise what the nature of this issue is and how to rectify.

Can you describe the rotating sign?   Android updates now happen with the phone still live, but earlier ones had a green geometric design and I'm fairly certain you'd get a notification before installation started.

The first thing to do would be to plug the phone into a charger so that the battery doesn't go flat before we've got this sorted.

It's possible to force a shutdown by pressing the power button for 30 seconds, but let's try and find out what's going on before you do that.

It is the normal rotating wheel logo. 

Unfortunately I cannot override by pressing the off button for 30 seconds, It continues to run.

Is this a software update that started automatically or did you instigate it via the phone's software update section @Kenny_Boy02  ?

Do you have ample internal storage to complete the update too ?

I'm not convinced it's a system update, but it's odd that you can't force a shutdown - I've used that as a last resort on occasions and it's always worked.

Are you able to access the recent apps button?   If so, does Clear All work?   That should stop everything that's running and might fix the issue.

I know, it is odd. 

I cannot access the Recent Apps button also. Looks like I shall have to return the unit to store.
