3rd party VF provider

Hi all,

My contract with VF is due to end in April 2017. I have always had HTC phones and wanted to upgrade to the HTC 10. For some reason VF do not now offer HTC, I talked via live chat and all I got was why not have an Apple or Samsung?

I want an HTC 10.

I have found company, a 3rd party VF provider that has the HTC 10 at the right price, but when I enquired they told me that I would not be able to PAC my original number over to their new contract and that I would have to have a new number.

Is this correct?

Regards,

Steve

Hi @Paffman

The independent needs to provide upgrades on contracts in the first place. Check their site etc.

If they offer upgrades then there is no need for a Pac Code. By definition a Pac Code is to move your mobile phone number from Vodafone to a new network.

It maybe a case of them getting more return on a new contract than an upgrade which is why they either don't offer an upgrade service or are steering you away from an upgrade. Just my personal thoughts. :Smiling:

Please be aware if a person does not upgrade directly with Vodafone then certain discounts such as Employers VEA is not available and essentially you become their customer with Vodafone providing the network connection.

As a suggestion have you as an alternative looked at Carfone Warehouse. They usually offer a good selection of phones.

Thanks for the info Lee.

So I can't use the PAC to go with a 3rd party VF provider as I am not moving from VF.

I would need to change network providers with this new company say BT to use the VF PAC?

You're welcome.

The purpose of a Pac Code is a process to be able to move from one UK Mobile Network and take your number with you to another UK Mobile Network.

Just a suggestion but have you considered speaking with Vodafone Retentions via calling 191 and choose Thinking of Leaving as they maybe able to offer something. The closer a person is to their contract end date usually the better the offer.

If you ask for your Pac Code which shows an intention to jump ship this may instigate a sweeter deal or occasionally a follow up call by Retentions to try and keep you. I must empathise this follow up call may or may not happen so please don't rely on it.

I don't know if you have requested your PAC code yet but I have just checked for you and you can get the HTC 10 on a Vodafone upgrade at Carphone Warehouse I'm not sure if that helps you but I just thought it would be nice to let you know.

And that way you can keep your number without requesting a PAC code ☺

I don't understand...

If I changed to BT surely I would need a PAC from VF?

Hi Yes you would need a PAC to move your number to BT but your initial post said

"I have found company, a 3rd party VF provider that has the HTC 10 at the right price"  indicating you wanted to stay with vodafone and keep your existing number.

Are you leaving vodafone?

Yes you're correct if you're changing from Vodafone to BT mobile then you would definitely need to get a PAC code from Vodafone and give it to BT so you can keep your number but I thought you wented to stay with Vodafone?

Yes my OP stated that I found a 3rd party company that has the phone I want, but they told me that I could not keep my number and that it would be a new contract with a new number.

And I would not be able to PAC a number from VF to the new VF contract.
