3rd party VF provider

Hi all,

My contract with VF is due to end in April 2017. I have always had HTC phones and wanted to upgrade to the HTC 10. For some reason VF do not now offer HTC, I talked via live chat and all I got was why not have an Apple or Samsung?

I want an HTC 10.

I have found company, a 3rd party VF provider that has the HTC 10 at the right price, but when I enquired they told me that I would not be able to PAC my original number over to their new contract and that I would have to have a new number.

Is this correct?

Regards,

Steve

Hi

The only process improvement aware is

Moving old vodafone number onto new Vodafone Contract. Credits to AnnS.

There are two ways this can be done.

1.  Cancel the old contract and ask for the number to be moved to PAYG.  The number will be scheduled to move to PAYG after 30 days.  You will then receive a new PAYG SIM card to activate and top up a small amount to get it active on the network.  You will then be able to transfer the number to the new contract.

2.  Ask Vodafone for a PAC code, move the old number to an alternative network, use the SIM as PAYG on the other network and ask for a PAC code to move the number onto the new contract.

Yes my OP stated that I found a 3rd party company that has the phone I want, but they told me that I could not keep my number and that it would be a new contract with a new number.

And I would not be able t PAC a number from VF to the new VF contract.

The 3rd party is ripping you off. They want you to take a new contract as they earn a lot more money that way than by processing an upgrade. Insist they upgrade you  and not make you go through the rigmarole of moving your number.

Can a 3rd party company just 'upgrade' me even though I am with VF?

Of course they can. It happens all of the time. What 3rd party are you talking to?

Yes.

For example Carfone Warehouse can and do.

Ask them specifically is my advise.

This is the comany in link below and their reply to me...

"Good afternoon

Thank you for your email.

As we are a third party company, once you are connected we have no access to your account details therefore If you have come to the end of your contract and wish to give notice of cancellation I will need to refer you to your network please be advised you need to give 30 days notice to them.

We do not sell upgrades for Vodafone/Talkmobile/Three so if you order through us it would be a new contract with a new mobile number.  You would be unable to port over your existing one.

Regards

Lucy"

They've obviously made a business decision not to sell upgrades. Personally I'd look elsewhere.

At least you've now got a lot of information and advice in order to make an informed decision.
