My 4G is not working on my iphone it is on 3g. i have selected 4G but it just doesnt work and is always 3G.

Have you asked Vodafone to change your mobile number?
This is significant information and This is a major task and can affect services while it settles.
Definatlry speak with customer services to check your account.

Are you Pay Monthly or Payg ?
If your connecting to 3G as you've stated in Post 12 "Because I went out and it was 3G", then your Sim Card must be activated.
I assume you can make and take Calls and SMS texts.
Before you instigate any processes yourself which may further hinder your Account and Servicex please do as we've discussed earlier.
