Apple Mac And Vmc Issue

jgpacker
Not applicable
Hi

I have a Apple Mac running OS 10.5.7 and VMC version 3.01.04.00 (8746). The VMC application worked fine for about a day. However the app now locks up shortly after loading and then causes 'The application Vodafone Mobile Connect' quit unexpectedly.

I haven't loaded any new software or updated the OS since installing VMC it seam to me as if a Library items is causing the app to fail.
Can anyone help me out as it's driving me mad.

Thanks

Hi Mr Packer,

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the latest version of Vodafone Mobile Connect?

This should resolve your issue :)

Thanks for the Reply I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software but I'm still experiencing the same problem. The software download at the link you've provided seems to be an older version than the one supplied on the USB stick.

You're help is much appreciated.

Hey Mr Packer!

Well, this to me would suggest a conflict of sorts - which is rare on OSX. Can you try connecting manually via the 'telepone' remote connectivity icon in the top bar? This is a bypass, as opposed to a resolution, but might be an idea until you discover the root cause.

Other than this, is your VMC app in the default Applications directory? It sometimes throws a wobbly if not placed properly

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem here, what happens is that the CPU usage goes to 100% and crashes the software. :(
I have the same version that Mr Packer is talking about. The VMC app is in the Applications directory for me.

I hope you will release a bugfix quickly. Otherwise, how do I configure the connection in the Networks preference tab, so I don't have to use VMC ?

Best,
Nathan

Hey Nathan 1901

Odd!

I don't have my own Mac at hand currently, but you can set things manually by going into your System Preferences > Network. Then, enable connectivity status icon so a quick link appears in your top bar, and select your modem from the left hand list. Make sure that the connectivity details are as follows:

Dial number: *99#
APN: internet (for contract)
pp.internet (for Top Up & Go)
pp.internet.co.uk (for PAYG)
pass: web (for all)

Let me know how both of you get on - I've been getting no problems on 10.5.8, but will investigate further.

Hi Daz

Thanks for you help. I've tried setting up using the Network control panel. However I think need the correct driver for the USB stick modem. I've been to HAUWEI website but cannot find a apple driver for the 3565. I've tried a setup using the generic modem setting with results in the stick not being recognised. The only Vodafone device listed tries to connect but fails with a disconnection notice 'no carrier'.

I've updated the Mac OS to 10.5.8 and the VMC softwear is still crashing!

Can you give me further support on this one. My main issue with using the Network control panel if I can get the dam thing to work, how will I top up my credit?

Hi guys,

Daz, our uber-advocate of the Mac isn't in the office at the moment, but I'm happy to offer what guidance I can at this point.

Can I ask you of the problem you're having matches the ones reported in this thread? Jon has flagged the details on this one up for us, so if it's the same issue then we can kill two birds with one stone, as it were.

In the meantime, you would be able to use any of our other methods to arrange a top up for your dongle.
