The latest Blackberry operating system - 10.2.1 was released by Blackberry end of 2013 and is a gamechanger upgrade for the Z10 and others, enabling much greater functionality and use of apps including Android. Carriers began to respond pretty quickly both across the world and the UK to release it - except Vodafone UK. We were promised that testing the upgrade was going ahead and was coming soon in January - it's now almost June and I'm still waiting. Why is Vodafone UK still dilly-dallying with this OS release and when can business and personal customers expect the blockage to be resolved and get the upgrade - legitimately through our own paid Vodafone carrier account?

Yes I agree - interesting, seems to be a sudden flurry of movement from Blackberry and Vodafone. This new version isn't showing up yet on my system but the major changes going on through the phone with the 10.2 big one is enough to be getting on with for now as everything is upgrading. Hopefully these new updates will be beneficial tweaks on the major 10.2 changeover and not demand massive time waits and download determination.

MrDJ,
10.2.1.2122 was realeased in February by Vodafone. If I am not wrong you put another SIM and updated to 10.2.1.2102. That could be the reason you never got the update.
So you most likely you got that Notification and as soon as you did that you got update notification for 10.2.1.2941.
Atleast now you cannot say that Vodafone have delayed the Software Update. :smileywink:

vodafone shop changed my sim when i got the phone in november as its smaller than the normal sized sim i previously had in my torch.
ive only ever done 1 update as ive read quite a few horror storys and i use my phone for hospital emergency calls so cant risk it ballsing up so i think ill give a miss to these 2 updates.
my motto is if it aint broke leave it alone.

OS update for Vodafone UK
now this is interesting. just like london busses you wait for ages and then 2 come along.
On the 27th may i got a notification for OS update to 10.2.1.2122
ive just got another one a minute ago and would you believe its a even newer OS of 99mb 10.2.1.2941
have they already found problems with 10.2.1.2122 and rushed another update out?

Cheers - that sounds cool - nothing on my phone yet but perhaps a regional drip feed is taking place - things are always slow in Norfolk, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Thanks for the link to the firmware statement - I never realised that phones bought through Vodafone, where they control the version of operating software on their network may respond differently to updates than the same phones bought through another retailer like Carphone Warehouse. Not commenting on progress of releases is a business cop-out and poor customer communications. This may explain why oddly some users have had updates and for others like me it's zilch since 10.1 on the Z10. I agree manufacturers initially roll out the updates but carriers must approve them and then send them - unlike other UK carriers, Vodafone UK, since January 2013, seem to have a problem with allowing this release from Blackberry - either something is incompatible with their network or someone has gone off Blackberry. My point is if I was on EE for example I would have had the upgrade months back - if I unlock the phone, mess about and use a SIM from another carrier I could get onboard with Z10 upgrades - but why should I have to do that?
