Can the Vodafone broadband connect router be configured to use a local 10.x.x.x network rather than 192.168.x.x ?
Most of ISP supplied routers that I have encountered allow this, but I do have an old BT Home Hub which could not be so configured.

Is that 'yes' or 'no'? i.e. could I set the router address to 10.0.0.139 (and have an appropriate DHCP range)? The BT hub I was trying to use would not accept that value.

You should be able to, although when i last tried to do something similar the hub threw a tantrum and stopped anything else connecting.
It appears you need to set the hub onto 10.0.0.1 if you want to be able to use all the 10.x.x.x subnet
