To the eForum Tech Team or anyone else who can help
I do not understand why I can not access the vodafone website using my BT home hub but can using my vodafone prepay dongle?
I mean it can not be my computer that is at fault or the Internet connection I am receiving because if that was the case then I could not access any website at all regardless of whether I was using my BT home hub or my vodafone prepay dongle or anything else that I could use to connect to the Internet but this is just not the case as the only problem I am receiving is from www.vodafone.co.uk although like I said before I can still access this from my vodafone dongle but only the dongle and since I used to be able to access the website two or three weeks ago from my BT home Hub why I can not do it now is a real puzzel to me that I hope anyone who reads this can answer?

Hi
I am also experiencing this issue of not being able to access https://vodafone.co.uk
The problem first occured last night after I was trying to upgrade my phone. The site www.vodafone was ok at first, things only went wrong when I attempted to log into my account (https) and for some reason I was asked to verify my account by requesting asecurity code. This I did, the code came through to my phone and I entered it.
From then on I have had problems and couldnt get past the page which said I needed to request a code which never came through to my phone.
I spent about an hour with livechat, but they fobbed me off when it got to 11pm and no solution.
I've tried 3 different browsers all with the same issue. Cleared cookies etc.
All I get is now "This web page is not available".
The site worked ok a month or so ago when I last checked my account. It worked ok last night until I attempted to log into my account.
Spent ages last night trying to sort it. Support at Live chat werent able to help and fobbed me off when it got to 11pm.
------
PS This forum is very slow to load and doesnt complete properly, but having looked at the source, it soon becomes clear that anything from the forum subdomain is ok. The issue is the header doesnt load which includes any images or scripts or css which are hosted on the main domain (eg https://www.vodafone.co.uk/cs/groups/public/documents/webasset/style.rhombus.min.css)

Hi there
From hands on experience, I would guess that there is some problem your side. I was using this forum and the Vodafone website late last night and again early this morning. Neither were slow and the forum has loaded very quickly for me on three different devices.
Try clearing your cache and cookies and give it a try a bit later on.

As I mentioned in my post above I have already cleared cache and cookies. I also mentioned that I'd tried using different browsers (I never normally use IE).
Everything worked ok until I attempted to log in. Someone on livechat also reset my account last night.
The forums are running slow for me only because they are trying to pull images and CSS files which are hosted on the main domain. Those files never load.
"Give it a try a bit later" is what I kept getting told when contacting vodafone livechat.
I have no problems acessing any other site. The issue with logins and secure site can sometimes mean an MTU issue. I note that the main site has ICMP disabled whilst the forum subdomain does not. Disabling ICMP on the server breaks Path MTU Discovery and can often blackhole secure sites as they send 1500 bit packets which get dropped at the first router anywhere on the path that has an MTU smaller than 1500.
I checked my MSS which was 1464 (www.vodafone.co.uk -f -l 1464) which then enabled me to work out my MTU (1464 + 28) which is 1492 and correct for PPPoE (1500 minus the 8 bit header). MTU is set in my router at 1492. The BTwholesale FTTC network runs on MTU 1492 because its PPPoE.
Co-incidentally I later noticed there is a large thread elsewhere on these forums that people with SureSignal and BT Infinity having connection issues due to MTU too.
Because I got a zillion texts come through from vodafone at 3:15 about my security code I was peeved and wide awake so I tried again.
It doesnt work on any machine going via wifi or LAN.. yet I can access using mobile data. I even attempted to connect via an ipad and a brand spanking new Galaxy tab which have never been near vodafone's website before.. so it most definitely not cookies or history or local machine or web browser.

btw - RE: " the forum and blog subdomains content are fine."
This is what I see on here. Any dependencies from www.vodafone.co.uk though will not load and that is what is slowing the forum down for me. It took me nearly an hour to make the above post because the header content wont load. Anything to do with the actual forum database is perfect.

I'd definitely say it is something your side - it is loading fine for me. I'm not getting anything like that screenshot, it's all loading okay. I've also tried signing into my account and that is working well to.
How are you trying to connect? Are you using your home broadband?

Yep... which is why I mentioned things such as router, BT wholesale MTU, Infinity... and how it was only when using the wifi or LAN I couldnt connect.
Vodafone data is ok. The same device will work fine via mobile data.. but not via the network.
Yet.. the home network worked fine up until very recently and Ive not changed anything on this side.

I was trying to ascertain whether it was home or work.
If you're heading into the office today, try from there. If it works okay you know that there is definitely an issue with your broadband and you'd need to contact your provider.

and just to rule out something else. Ive swapped the router over to a different make and still the problem persists.
I've also swapped DNS servers from google to OpenDNS
So far that rules out

Interesting. Just checked out my ISP forum and notice this:-
https://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,145969.0.html
Exactly the same symptoms. It was cured for him by swapping IP.
Unfortunately Im on a paid for static IP and since I run server services I dont want to request an IP change. Is it possible like that poster said that vodafone are blocking certain IP ranges?
It would be interesting to know where the other posters in this thread who also have the same problem.. if they use a Plusnet IP.
