Call problems on Samsung Galaxy 3 Mini

Vodafone supplied this Galaxy 3 Mini phone direct to me a few months back as part of a renegotiated contract.  In the past 2 weeks some calls work fine but others have problems.  In those the caller says they cannot hear me whether I have the phone on speaker or not.  I can only partially hear them a few words are clear then a gap then words are heard again.  Microphone settings are at the correct level

Everything else wi-fi, texting and emails work fine with no problems?

Is this a phone fault or a software issue.

Any help appreciated.

Hi

Check the speaker and other ports do not have any dust or lint in them.

No screen shields or case is hindering the speakers and Mic.

Try soft re booting the phone by turning it off and on.

Does this issue happen in one place or everywhere ? If in one place check your masts via https://www.vodafone.co.uk/explore/network/uk-coverage-map/index.htm

Try ure Sim in another phone as elimination 2 rule out the phone or sim that may be at fault.

You do have the option to have Vodaphone send the phone off for a diagnostic or repair or I would suggest contacting Samsung UK Support for the manufacturer to take a look at it.

Good luck.

Hi thanks for those details which I will try out anyway.

When I think about it the dropped calls mostly occur when I am using the phone inside the house in our study where both my wifi router & hub are based. Could this be a reason for the call problems do you think?

I never had a problem with previous phones in the vicinity of the router though perhaps the Galaxy Mini is more sensitive to external signals.

What do you think?

You're welcome 😎

I'm my experience home routers would not interfere with mobile phone signal.

A simple test would be to unplug your router and see if that changes anything. I honestly don't think it will.

Possibly the thickness of walls or building materials used in the house construction that's blocking signal or outside issues such as buildings , hills , trees or atmospheric conditions.

Thanks for that advice.  I will try it.
