Can't Cancel an Order in Open Status?

So, recently I decided to upgrade my tablet as it recently entered its final months.

 

My order is currently out of stock, so I was prepared to wait until this in stock - however, I can't track this order at all using the original EDM- number provided...

 

I recently decided on a different tablet, which I am still happy to get through vodafone and wait for the stock delivery. Next, I call 191 to try and have this cancelled which then allows me to recreate another order.

 

I was advised by the consumer care agent that they cannot cancel this order? I asked why and was told that to cancel the order, I will have to wait for this to come into stock with Vodafone for them to then despatch it through DPD, for me to then refuse delivery once it has reached me and it be shipped back to Vodafone...

 

This seems completely pointless to me and frustrating because they say this is the way it must be? Surely, I can cancel the order now before they recieve the stock that they will then despatch to me???

 

Please someone help me on this? I was going round in circles yesterday!!!

Hi there

 

I believe what you've been told is correct.  You have a very small window in which to cancel an order (about an hour from when it was placed) and after that you have to wait for it to be delivered before you can return it and cancel.  Frustrating huh?

The most frustrating part is I have to wait for my device to be delivered to vodafone, then despatched, then refused & sent back to them?

 

Where is the logic? They will incur costs through DPD twice?

It is my understanding that if the device is on pre  order, delay or on back order then ask the front line agent to pass you through to cancellation department who can cancel the order.

The information you have been told about changing / cancelling the order is correct.

Please refuse delivery and then we can change / amend the order.
