I for some reason cannot send text messages. I can receive them but when I try to send theme on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus I get the following error: Message not sent: Select to review the message and try again. This was working fine and still working fine after I recently upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.2. Ideas please?

In the circumstances I was referring to, temporary use of a local SIM had messed the message centre number up. If you've never had anything but a Vodafone SIM in your phone, it won't be that, though.

It's not impossible that whilst playing with various handsets I may have briefly placed a non-Vodafone SIM in the handset in question but it would have to have happened in the last 3 months (since the phone was last used to successfully send a text without difficulty) and I have absolutely no recollection of having done anything like that since before Xmas, which is almost 6 months ago now.
If placing a local, non-Vodafone SIM in the handset is a potential cause of such a problem then it may well what happened in my case. It's simply that I have no memory of doing so. But the handset would have a more reliable memory than I, would it not?:smileyhappy:

In theory, the phone should read the text centre number off the SIM. In the other instance, the device itself was showing it as blank and wouldn't save it when it was entered manually. I don't know whether there's any kind of reset option on the device you have? On older ones, I believe pulling the battery while it was switched on was the way... Be careful with this as I'm not certain about it.

It's academic now as the problem is sorted. If it ever happens again, I'll know the first thing to check.

Thanks for the suggestion but given that I live overseas I'm hardly likely to forget the +44 prefix, especially as the number is shown higher in this thread !!
However, the problem does appear to have been with the text service number. I had inserted it and checked several times but it would appear that on saving it was not being updated. I switched the phone off and on and have re-entered yet again and this time it seems to have saved successfully and I have subsequently managed to send a text OK.
Has the text service number has changed in the last few months? I have done nothing to the phone settings and it used to send texts OK."
This is in a post further up hrym
