Continued bills long after account closed

I have just been turned down for a mortgage because it would appear that my credit rating has has very quickly gone from good to very poor.
After checking my credit report, it would seam the reason is six unpaid bills from Vodafone.
I do not have an account with Vodafone. I used to have an account a few years ago before I changed to Gifgaf.
Today I have spent quite a lot of time speaking to some of your advisors on the telephone. They have all said the same thing, that I do not have an account and that any previous accounts I have had in the past are no longer active and no money is owed.
Something is obviously amiss.
Please could someone help fix this problem?
As I'm sure you can imagine this impact on my credit rating has in turn impacted my plans of getting a mortgage. I have worked very hard over the past years to obtain a good credit score and now it would seem the house we had planed on buying is no longer an option.
I can see from other posts on this forum that this is a common problem.
This is effecting me in such a way that I simply will not let this rest. It needs to be sorted and quick!
The solicitor I was using for the purchase of the house has sugested an official letter from vodafone admitting fault on their part may help my situation before the (what i imagain to be) long process of reversing the bad marks on my credit report and taking further action.
Rest assured we will be taking further action unless sorted now.

@adebombastic This is going to need investigating further so please let the Vodafone Social Media Team here catch up with your thread and engage with you.

I assume you closed down your Vodafone contract via giving 30 days or using a pac code to move your number to GiffGaff and left your direct debit open until any final monies were paid and you received a Sorry your leaving letter and £0 bill ?

You may find some information in this help thread including adding a Notice of Correction may help. Experian themselves can help and advise you too.

I totally understand how damaging a default on a Credit File can be.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I did close down the account in the correct way. It was two years ago that I changed to GiffGaff.

I await a response from the Vodafone team.
