Data connection on a Dapeng A75

Hello,

I have a Chinese phone Dapeng A75 with dual sims and ICS.

It won't connect to Vodafone data, I'm using a PAYG sim and the following settings;

pp.vodafone.co.uk

wap

wap

but have tried loads of others.

I've been in two different Vodafone shops, one was much more helpful than the other (changed the sim, confirmed all the settings etc) but neither could fix it.

My phone works with an o2 sim and the Vodafone sim works in my other older Chinese Star A5000 phone.

Any suggestions would be apprerciated.

Stephen

Btw that was for Smccartney. He is the man.

I know this thread is getting on a bit

However, just tried setting the Authentication type to 'NONE' on a Cubot C10+... and can now connect :Smiling:

Had me puzzled for a while, but hey. Many thanks for the solution :Smiling:

Thanks rob_h,
Setting Authentication type to none also worked on an Aspera R5 which is dual SIM also.

Amazing that after several years Vodafone has still not addressed this issue. I bought a PRE PAID SIM today and could not get internet connection to work. An SMS sent by Vodafone as part of the setup procedure informed me that it could not be done automatically and that I should go to Vodafone.co.uk/settings info. This site does not give any settings info if you cannot find your device on a list of models. I presume that if Vodafone had details of these devices already then these are the devises that could be set up automatically anyway. There are no generic settings info given on this webpage to assist with a manual setup.

Come on Vodafone, get your act together.

In the mean time I went to O2 and was set up with a working re paid data connection within 10 minutes of walking in the door. Was not till after this that I came across this forum. Wasted £30 at Vodafone, requested a refund but was refused cause I had already used the card. The only use I made of the card was to try to get it working.

Hello @Kencooke

I'm sorry to hear the issues you've had.

You can see our general internet settings online.

Please just scroll down to 'Set up your phone for the internet' on the previous link, ignoring the select device section.

If you need anything else, let me know.

Thanks,

Amanda

Amanda, thankyou for taking the interest to reply.

unfortunately, the support web page that you directed me to < http://support.vodafone.co.uk/Device-Guides/Office-and-leisure/Internet/48713146/Set-up-your-phone-f... does not provide all of the settings that are required. The missing piece of information required to set up the APN settings is the line for "Authentication type".

On my mobile dual SIM phone the default for this is "Not set". Changing this to the option "None" fixes all the problems. This I discovered by reading the posts in this very thread of this forum. This solution was mentioned in this forum as far back as 2012.

If only Vodafone could include this on the settings page and if only the SMS message that i received re failure of automatic setup had directed me to the settings info directly rather than in a round about way through the vodaphone.co.uk/settingsinfo page where i was instructed to select from a list of devices none of which matched mine.
Please vodafone provide all of the information needed for APN settings.
