Default removal and going around in circles

Can anyone advise if they have had success removing a vodafone default. I recieved a default back in 2013 for an unpaid bill of £134. I had just moved house, and never recieved any communication from vodafone. Once I realised I paid it off imediately but this is now affecting my mortgage application. I feel like I have gone around in cricles, having spoken with numerous customer service agents via live chat and on th ephone they never seem to be able to help and have no idea what a credit agency is or how this affects everyone here in the UK. I had been a vodaphone customer for 6 years and never missed a payment up until this one payment yet this seems to count for absolutely nothing with vodaphone. I am at my wits end and am looking at going to the financial ombudsman now as I feel I have no other choice but has anyone had any success in removing a default?

@pagr15,

There have been several examples reported on this forum of people successfully getting defaults removed. So far as I recall these have been when Vodafone have made a mistake, not when the customer has actually defaulted. YMMV, of course.

I am also in the exact same predicament - account was settled months ago.  It took me 4 months to dispute that I owed them the money but I finally gave in and paid.  I told them I would only pay on the basis that the default would be removed.  I received a letter from Moorcroft the debt collecting agency and they confirmed basically that upon settlement Vodafone would reflect the settlement on my credit file!  Of course, they only said it was settled but the default remains.  I have just applied to remortgage as I am (WAS) going self employed in Feb next year and needed some money behind me just in case but, my score had dropped from 999 to 319!  and its been made even worse now because the bank have made a credit check!  It is disgraceful how they treat people. Please please could someone guide me if there is a way of removing the default.  What I don't quite get is that they've had their (alleged) outstanding money but they really don't care what the consequences are! This has seriously jepopardised my family and my future.  Thank you

I hope your statement that you would only pay on condition the default be removed (and Vodafone's concurrence) was made in  writing and can therefore be proven. If it was verbal and if you don't have the full name of the person who  "agreed" to this then you are probably up faeces creek without a means of locomotion.  But good luck nevertheless !

Thank you but  did actually put it in writing but oh my gosh, been on the phone for at least 2 hours today with a foreign number and they had no idea what I was talking about!  So very frustrated and so down that what I had pre empted with my business venture won't be happening!  Thank you for your concern
