Deleting emails

I have a Vodfone Smart 4 phone and I have a question re emails.

I downloaded some emails onto my Webmail Vodafone account on my computer and after that I checked my phone and deleted the messages received on that device since I had read them via webmail.  Unfortunately it also deleted the emails from my webmail account so how can I stop it doing that?  My incoming settings for delete email from server says 'never' so not sure why it would then delete them anyway?

This was a similar occurrence on my iPhone when deleting they were also being deleted from my BtMail.

I checked both the settings in my iPhone Stock Mail App and also the Settings in my BtMail using my Computer and changed the relevant settings to stop them being deleted from my server. 

I also deleted the lemail settings from my phone and then re entered them as new and ensured my preference settings were set right. 

I would suggest you do the same and sometimes if the phone stock mail app does not want to behave as you set it then it could be beneficial to look in your App Store for an alternative Mail App to try.

I had a somewhat similar problem with the stock email app on a Samsung Galaxy phone a few years ago and I'm generally not a fan of that kind of app on mobile devices as they often seem to behave in unpredictable ways.  On an Android device, I much prefer Gmail and its associated app.  You can set Gmail up to collect emails from any other service and to reply as-from the original address.  You can also set it to send as-from any address, though only one.   All that needs to be done in the web interface, not the app.

Some mail services (eg Yahoo) have their own apps, which work in similar ways, but Gmail seems the slickest.
