Does Vodafone provide a landline?

Bo

Usually when providers do not have or charge for a landline they expect to use the landline you already have which means you need to keep paying your old provider.

Can someone please let me know if Vodafone is like this or if they are going to install a landline of their own but simply not charge me for it?

Thanks guys!

My Dad already had a BT landline and BT fibre and switched to Vodafone. He now just pays Vodafone for the line rental and broadband. The line rental is £0, the fibre costs £28 a month. The old BT account was closed.

There was no line connection charge or fibre connection charge during the switchover.

In my case, I was charged £60 to have my - installed but inactive - BT line connected, and £49 for the broadband - fibre- activation (still not working as of 6 weeks of being messed about by them).

Hope this helps?

Thanks.

I am struggling to understand why people seem to have trouble answering this question?

The link does not answer the question.

The sales site states:

Bundle includes

Ultra-smart Vodafone Connect router (worth £130)

Unlimited broadband usage

Home Phone line

6 months' free F-Secure SAFE anti-virus software

It says that it includes a home phone line which gives me the impression I do not need an existing phone line with another supplier.

Perhaps an existing customer can provide some clarification here?

Thanks dawnydoodles!

That definitely answered my question.

I just wanted to be sure so I could cancel the order before things start messing up as my current provider does not allow customers to keep the landline without the broadband.

They only charged me £49 for the activation and apparently it will be connected without an engineer.

Hi Bo.

Glad it helped. :Smiling:

I assume you had (non-fibre) broadband before? If so, that would explain the £49 connection charge.

In my Dad's case, yes, no engineer visit was necessary at all. On the morning of the transfer date it was up and running with no problem at all.

In fact, as a result of that, he persuaded me to try Vodafone too, but things have been far from smooth here as you'll see if you look further down the forum here. :Winking_smiley:

Hope yours is plain sailing.

The current connection is fibre. They charge everyone the £49 activation fee as far as I know.

I hope it will go smoothly but the one thing I would like to say is that the sales agent that helped me with the order process told me Vodafone would be taking over the landline from my current provider which is obviously completely incorrect. This is why I wanted confirmation so I could cancel before this messes up as my provider does not allow customers to keep landlines without broadband.

Vodafone, please ensure your sales agents are trained well regarding the products as 18-month contracts are quite serious and customers need to be informed properly. Had I not gotten clarification I would have already cancelled my order again.

Have a great day dawnydoodles and best of luck with your connection!
