The Vodafone website says this here.
"As we link your mobile number to your SIM card on our network to enable you to use your phone, your SIM card will never expire while you have a connection with us."
I have a Vodafone number that has zero credit and has never had any applied. The number is only used to receive SMS and Whatsapp (over Wi-Fi) and works fine, It has been in use for about 35 weeks.
Recently I read on the forum that there needs to be a chargeable event every 3 months to keep the number active.
Which is it?
What counts as a "connection"?
Thanks,

@Enceladus You appear to have fallen through the system if it is really 35 weeks without any chargeable activity. Chargeable activity is YOU making a call (not to 191 ) or sending texts.
If you want to keep the number you should buy a £5 top up and make a few calls, the duration of the calls is not important it is just to show the sim as being used, you should do this before the cut off system catches up with you. You do not need to invest in a bundle as you only need to remember to use the sim every 179 days to keep it active,
When was the last time you received a text? Are you sure the sim is still active as wifi does not count.
