Don't Vodafone Like giving out NFC SIM Cards?

Having issues with my SIM card so decided to order one via Live Chat.

Said we don't do NFC Enabled 3 in 1 SIM. Only do NFC in Micro SIM.

Told him my current card is NFC Enanbled 3 in 1. Siad ok, I have ordered it.

Today my daughter was in Westfield London. She is authorised person on my Account. Send her a Whatsapp to ask for specifically "NFC Enable 3 in 1 SIM". You guessed it right. Gave a Legacy 3 in 1.

And would not activate as not my Daughter's number.

Obviously the card is not registered on my account, so can't SIM Swap as need to get a Text to authorise it. But reason I need the NEW SIM card, my current not working. So how am I supposed to get a text?

They didn't bother to check the account. And my daughter said the store was not busy at all.

Does not sound like a good experience at all @Getafix

Just to clarify for people searching for help ln regards to Sim Swaps > If a person cant receive a text to activate because their sim is faulty then there is the 2nd option as highlighted in this link to process it. Vodafone simswap. >Can your device receive text messages?<

It sounds to me that the people spoken to didn't fully understand what was needed !

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

The response on chat was they don't do NFC in 3 in 1. So definitely understood the request.

And my Daughter read it out to the person in store. When I was in Reading Store a month ago they would not give me a SIM card without Activating it. Said it was policy. After pushing them, one of the Agents just got out one from the pocket and handed it.

So I believe they just have legacy type in the pocket, when asked give it out.

@Getafix well they definitely do (or did) 3 in 1 NFC Sims because my last one was exactly that and the shop knew exactly what I wanted and why, if you can travel to Morpeth in Northumberland they would sort it !

I know they do, as I am holding one right now, which was delivered last weekend. Only thing it stopped working as got deleted on the Network.

Well, might have to take you up on that. 4th day without service. Lucky I managed to get into My Vodafone and transfer my calls to my backup O2 number.

NFC SIMs certainly used to be available in all sizes (including 3-in-1, which would seem sensible).  Shops will sometimes be out of stock of them, I believe and you only get one if you ask for it because they're more expensive than standard ones and not everyone uses Wallet.

As for activation, there's an online form or you can use Live Chat.   I've always had more success with the latter.  Personally, I'm glad to see they're taking precautions over only activating for the account owner as there have been cases of people taking over other peoples' phones has part of a bank scam.

@Getafix - Thanks for your time on the phone earlier today and I’m sorry again for the issues you’ve come across when trying to get this sorted! 🤦

As we've agreed, I'll be back in touch. 🙂
