E870 Card Install Issue

Hi,

I have a Vodaphone 3G Express Card (Huawei e870), which is on a Business Account and works perfectly on my company laptop. However, when I try to use it on my own PC (Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo) the Device Manager sees it as three entries under "other devices". It will not download the drivers.

The blue light is flashing (once every 2 seconds) so I know it is cnnected OK. WHat do I need to do to enable this please?

I can't copy any drivers from the working laptop as it is locked down.

Thanks

As an update, I have now managed to download VMC software onto my PC.

The ExpressCard can now be seen as a Modem within Device Manager and states is working properly.

However, the device does not seem to be enabled? I've rebooted the PC and its like VMC doesnt recognise the device.

Thoughts??

Hey there fatcockney,

That does seem strange - once you've got the new VMC it should provide greater driver compatibility

I would advise:

- booting with the modem plugged in
- trying a new USB port
- removal and reinstalling the device drivers
- try connecting via the Start > Connect To menu option

It does sound like there's some prot conflict at play, especially as it works on another computer. As we're not Microsoft Accredited technicians, there's a limit to what we can (legally) advise ont he subject of Windows help. Perhaps one of the community can help out with this one?

Hi Daz,

I've tried rebooting with the modem in....no change.

I can't use a different USB as its in the PCI slot (I don't have an adapter for USB if such a thing exists)

On the Vodaphone Mobile Connect main screen, in the Mobile Connections box, it is contantly "searching for a device".

However, if I pull the card out, then put it back in again, it says "Mobile Device Detected" then 10 seconds later changes to "No Device". Then if I click "Add a device" it just searches and searches.

I'm really confused. Appreciate the help
