Hey there Ian H, and hello from the team!

It can be a frustrating thing trying to get Windows to work sometimes, especially with the unhelpful information it often delivers when faced with such an error.

Luckily, our Jon has been doing some research into tricky issues like this. He has compiled his findings into this thread, and I would suggest a peek at his solutions. The error is indeed a Windows one, and you may need an alternate internet connection to update it and/or download additional components to resolve this. I don't know half as much as Jon does on such a matter, but if you could try the info in that thread and get back to us, I'll quiz him when he's in next.

Hey there Ian H,

Very sorry about that!

The link is here, and details Jon's findings. Let us know how you get on with that! Below are his initial suggestions, click on to see more.

I've just been forwarded some information which should resolve this issue:

Please follow the steps below :)

1) uninstall VMC, reboot the computer
2) delete C:\Program Files\Vodafone\Vodafone Mobile Connect, if it still exists after the uninstall
3) delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\vodafone (replace with name of current user - also please note that this is a hidden folder, you have to enable 'show hidden files and folders' in the Windows Explorer settings)
4) clean the Registry: (Click on Start > Run, and type "regedit" into the text box. Then press enter)
- delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Vodafone
- delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vodafone

We have also received some suggestions for other general issues that may be related to the .NET framework installation errors, below:

1. Run Windows Update

2. Update additional Microsoft components manually:

Microsoft Installer version 4.5: Note: Download the file appropriate for the Operating System in use i.e. x86 WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe for XP

Visual Basic Script 5.7 (Not for Vista):

.Net Family Update (Not for Vista): Note: require to install all 3 files.
