Just wanted to share my experiences so that others might not waste the hours I have.
The symtoms (I have type/version/model 1 Sure Signals):
Fortunately I have two Sure Signals and so could swap just about every thing until I worked out what was wrong (it still took about 4 hours of messing around). Eventually I discovered that the problem was the power supply. While it still works (I checked the voltage with a meter) it appears that it no longer has the strength (amps) to fully power the Sure Signal. I can only assume that once the Sure Signal has finished booting and logging into the Vodafone network that it then starts up the transmitter/reciever part for the mobile phones to use and this is the point at which the power supply could now longer supply the demand put on it.
Whoever made the decision not to embedded a webserver into the Sure Signal so that we can get some sensible feedback from it when the going gets tough made a very poor decision. Seeing a more detailed list of status messages would have made life some much easier and faster to isolate the problem.

Hi Jock,many thanks for that diagnosis, I had been backwards and forwards with Vodafone to try and solve the identical problem to yours. After reading your solution, I had a forage in the 'spare power supply box' (surly everyone has one of these) and came up with a replacement, which cured the problem instantly ! Well Done!!!

Have the same issue here, although everything was working OK before we had our electric off for tree cutting work. Once the electircity was restored, no lights on the SS. Tested the supply at 4volts.
So need a new power supply, any tip where to get a new power suppky for a SS v2?

I got one delivered from EBay for £10. Looks like they're a fraction cheaper now.

Just noticed that the adjustable power supply that I was using to replace the original has gone down. I have another one I've got on the SS now, if that goes down then something is not right and I won't buy a new power supply to see that fail also. BTW - the SS still has not logged on, sitting with power and the other two lights flashing randomly.
Maybe the SS has failled?
Reluctant to buy a SS3 that plugs directly into a mains plug for £100 :smileyfrustrated:

My SS v2 has just eaten my second power supply. Is there any point in me buying a new one? Is this a common fault? Or will I have to buy a new SS?
Admin - what do you think?

Hi Steve,
We can only really support the power supply that came with the Sure Signal, so I'm unable to offer advice on the replacements unless they're official ones.
Like most of our phones, your Sure Signal comes with a 24 month warranty. If you think yours is faulty, we can arrange a repair.

Thanks for you message Ben, it's way over 24 months old. I have just ordered a genuine SS power supply, so will see how that goes. If that is eaten then I'll have to throw the SS v2 in the bin. At the moment I have NO mobile signal, so no business calls :smileymad:
