Hi all,
I currently have a Z3 Compact. I am just wondering if I pay £19.99 to unlock my phone, will my Android firmware be revoked back to the generic version (as opposed to the Vodafone-specific version)?
I am asking this simply because generic version gets future update much quicker, as it could bypass the carrier testing period.
Thanks a lot for your help.

No, the unlock only removes the SIM lock (meaning you could use it with different carriers). Have you checked to see if it's actually locked?
If you're going to flash a generic Z3C firmware then you need neither SIM unlock nor Bootloader unlock. The Firmware is signed by Sony so is therefore OFFICIAL, just not for your carrier.
If it's your phone (outright) then it's your call ultimately.
