Anyone know when we might be getting this update from Vodafone ?

I see the update has started rolling out.

Hi there

Vodafone won't be able to confirm when the update will start rolling out as the actual roll out is up to HTC.  You'll find Vodafone's Firmware statement here.  Please do bear in mind that updates are rolled out in a staggered fashion which means that not every handset will get update at the same time.

Try and get Vodafone to send you the .APK

Use a service like https://www.wetransfer.com/

upto 2 gig filetransfers for free

Will try, thanks

Hi everyone,

I answered a similar thread today, so the below may be a repeat for any who saw my response earlier. :Winking_smiley:

RCS is a feature that's being rolled out across the board on all networks
in the near future. It's a more reliable way of texting and will replace your old texting app. You can find out more about it here:smileyhappy:

The HTC One is the first handset to get our version of this service via Message+. You'll be offered to download it from the prompt mentioned in other posts. Once installed, it can't be removed but it can be disabled in the phone settings.

Like NFC, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, RCS feeds can use more power on your phone so those who use the service (or a similar option like Whatsapp) may see increased power usage.

Cheers, Ben

Hi Ben.

RCS using power makes sense of course, but using 2 hours cpu and 20% battery when not actually used, that feels excessive to put it mildly. If I'd used any of its features I'd perhaps understand, but this is with it idle.

Crashing of phone app in hand and via Bluetooth hf also appears to have been resolved by disabling Rich Comms.

I've no idea if I'd enjoy the benefits of RCS, as the disadvantages make the phone unusable, for me at least.

Hi Andrew,

If you'd like to post your phone details here, I'll be happy to feed this back for you. All I'll need is your Software number, HTC SDK API Level, Kernel version, Baseband version and Build number.

You can find all of this in 'Settings', 'About' and 'Software information'.

If anyone else is seeing the same kind of power consumption and would like to post the same, feel free to post the above info too. :Smiling:

Cheers, Ben

Hi Ben

Do you reckon you'd be able to help me with the aforementioned .APK file please? Not having much joy from anywhere else at the moment 😕

Hi npearce9,

The updates are staggered to HTC One users over a two week period. This helps prevent HTC's servers getting overloaded by doing them all at once.

If you've had the notification but still can't download it via Wi-Fi, try backing up your details before doing a factory reset. If that doesn't help, have a check to make sure you've enough free memory to allow the download following a restoration. :Winking_smiley:

Let me know how you get on. :Smiling:

Cheers, Ben

Hi Ben

Tried to backup/factory reset and then update, didn't work. Downloads fine, then gets the red triangle at 20% when updating.

In fact now it has been reset it appears to have regressed to the older Android version, and my only option is this new update that won't work.

I guess I'll have to wait?

Thanks

Has anyone following this thread still got the .APK file in the download folder?

I think this will help Npearce sort his issue?

Unfortunately my histroy cleaner remove mine

I've disabled Rich Communications Service - I don't want it. I understand I cannot uninstall it.

How do I stop recieving update notifications?

thanks
