I have recently changed from iphone 5 to 6 and can confirm that this problem exists on both phones so not sim card or hardware related.
Both phones work fine but when I go to areas with no signal (there are a few in hampshire where I live) neither phone would/will reconnect to the network at all. Sometimes switching to airplane mode and back will help but mostly I need to turn phone off and on again to get signal back at all. I only notice this problem when I spend some time in an area with no signal it seems.

Lets see if Vodafone give you/us a response??

Hi folks,
Unfortunately, you can Google most phone models along with a problem and get search results.
Until Apple confirm there's a known issue, we're unable to deviate from the repairs process. You're entitled to seek a second opinion from Apple directly should you be unhappy with the warranty terms.
We'll continue to feed anything back to the manufacturer in the meantime.
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
From a support perspective that viewpoint is pretty shortsighted. Are you implying the issue doesn't exist?
It is not the fact that you can Google and find an issue but the sheer quantity across all providers in all countries which should raise concerns.
Has Vodafone raised this as an issue with Apple?

Hi @anthonyuk ,
As the manufacturer of the device, only Apple can officially announce any confirmed issues.
We regularly update all manufacturers with any trends or feedback we get from our customers.
Thanks,
Ben

Sure but as a prolific Apple user. They are very good at denying any issues for ages and then sneaking in an update which cures it at a later date. My thoughts are that Vodafone as a big customer of Apple makes a representation on behalf of its many customers who are experiencing this issue. I am quite happy to present myself at a Vodafone store the next time this issue occurs to prove it is valid. Some "clout" is required!

Hi Ben_H
Now that it has been pointed out that there appears to be a more widespread issue with IOS 8 will this be communicated as 'trend' to Apple.

Just to add to this, I have had this problem for ages, both on my iPhone 5S and now iPhone 6 - both with Voda. I have given up on finding a fix.
As others have noted, it would appear to be a software issue. FWIW, Apple are usually quite happy to exchange the handset if you call into a store but don't hold your breath expecting it to fix it.
Voda, and others, do themselves no favours by offering the standard 'try a different sim' or 'send it in for repair' lines.
Voda - you sell these things (at great untaxed profit) - the least we can expect is that you are completely expert in what you sell. It's not acceptable for end users to know more than you do.

Maybe todays latest software update will fix it along with the other annoying little issues!
