K3765 Modem Not Being Activated In Windows7

Hello.
I have a new K3765 USB modem that I got when I started my internet account with vodafone.
But I am using windows7 and it first didnt detect the modem as such. Then after long hours I managed to find it but now it wont become activated in VMC.


It says that the unit is detected.
It is marked as being used as default but the activation is not "on"..

Pls help.
I am currently using internet at a friends place but I need my own. I live in Playa Del ingles, spain.

This is a good question that you raise and one that can be answered quite easily.

If you simply check out our VMC Windows 7 Software Support Centre, this will allow you to download the latest update for the Vodafone Mobile Connect software and clearly states that after extensive tests done by ourselves the K3765 does not have any known issues or conflictions when running Windows 7.

I am pleased that you dont have any problems with it, but I still do.. Even after using the latest software that you provide.

I have now reinstalled Vista64bit and gotten as far that the modem is active. However I get the most elusive errormessage when trying to connect to the network it finds.. RAS 635.. And given the list of RAS errors it's an "Unknown Error"..
I tried reinstalling win7. Reinstalled with the latest VMC software and I got up to the point that it tries to connect then (again RAS 635)..

I have tried the modem on a friends computer (running vista) and it works, so its not the modem.
But after a clean OS installation and still getting errors..

Please if you have any hints or tips.. Cause it does not work for me as it is.
And no I am not giving it back.. I want it to work so lets find a solution..

Have surfed a multitude of forums .. Many talk of same problems but on other models of mobile usb modems.

I have attached some pics on how it looks like in my VMC atm.
I still get the error 635 though..

The vmc I have installed is from "setup-9.4.3.16284.full.compressed.zip"

After a few reboots I get a "new" name for the modem in the list.

Hi Jon.,

I did what I could from that description..
But I dont have K3760.. I have K3 765..
Also it has never detected a globetrotter device. Nor can I find any such drivers to install.

I made a post with atached jpgs to show how it looks like but I guess we have to wait for the moderator to check it out before it will be posted.
..
In short though.. it hasnt solved my 635-problem.

Thank you for your reply. From looking at those screenshots you've given it appears that the modem is trying to connect to Vodafone Spain instead of Vodafone UK, can you confirm if there is an option to choose Vodafone UK or not and what happens if you choose it?

You also mention that there's no Globetrotter drivers anywhere, I'd give the following a try to potentially resolve this issue:

-Go to Start > Connect To > VMC
-Press Connect
-If this fails then go to Start > Control Panel
-Double Click on system and then load the device manager
-Check for Globetrotter components in modem, if this is not present then try the following
-Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers
-Uninstall any mass storage or composite devices
-Unplug modem, wait 10 seconds then plug in again
-If all goes well then device manager should bounce up and down, once it has settled the modem driver should be in place
-Assuming this has worked then try connecting again with VMC.

Let me know how you get on with the above .

Hello again..

I now have internet.. using K3765 modem.. however its slow as a drunken donkey on ice trying to pull a building.

But first.. I am in Gran Canaria.. Using vodafone ES.. So using UK connection would perhaps not be the best option.

As for trying to make it a globetrotter modem.. it doesnt work.

What did work however is :

I borrowed a E220 usb modem from the store.. installed that and it worked almost directly in Windows 7..
Then I installed the K3765 again as normal and voila.. it works.. however there is an unknown device.. "Vodafone mobile broadband network adapter (huawei)" among my devices..

So.. for future such problems.. perhaps make it possible for customers to download and "install" an older E220 usb modem first.. then reinstall their new K3765 modem to make it work..

And I hope that this helps others.. I am now a semi-happy-camper.. only need to tweak things for more speed.

I also have Windows 7 64 Bit and my 3765 isn't working either. I always get the same 635 error. I have tried the steps you explained above but couldn't solve the problem.
I don’t have a E220 so that won't solve the problem. I really don't know what to do!

It cannot be too difficult to program a program working for all oeration systems such as Win. 7 64 Bit. I don't want to insatll Win. XP just because of that! I mean I am paying for this device and the internet connection without having an internet connection.
So please at least answer.
