We’ve created this thread to help with an issue that some people find during setup.
This issue has the following symptoms:
Troubleshooting steps:
Wait 24 hours.
It can sometimes take up to 24 hours for the Sure Signal to fully register with the server. Before attempting any of the steps below, please wait 24 hours.
Check for planned maintenance.
Planned maintenance can cause periods of downtime, so check the forum for any planned maintenance. If there is, this will be announced at the top of the Sure Signal forum.
Check that your Sure Signal has registered successfully.
Before your Sure Signal can connect to our network, you need to register it with us.
You’ll receive a text or email to let you know when the registration is complete and your Sure Signal won’t work until you’ve received this message.
To check your Sure Signal is registered, login to your My Vodafone Account and click on the 'My Sure Signal' tab. Your Sure Signal details should be listed, along with the status 'Registered'.
If you’ve not yet registered your Sure Signal, you can do this directly from the My Sure Signal page in your My Vodafone Account .
If you’re a Business customer, please register on our business Sure Signal page.
Manually configure your router to allow port-forwarding.
In most cases, routers support a system called Universal Plug-n-Play (UPnP), which sets up port-forwarding for you automatically. If you’ve got a complicated network setup, or a complex router, you may need to enter these settings manually.
Please see the following for a list of IP addresses and port numbers that need to be forwarded to your Sure Signal's internal IP address. For instructions on how to do this, we recommend you contact your ISP or Router Manufacturer, or refer to the default guide for your particular make and model, over at http://portforward.com.
Destination IP Addresses:
Ports and Protocols:
Please note that in the above list of IP addresses, the notation "212.183.131.128/26" means the complete range of IP addresses between 212.183.131.128 and 212.183.131.191
Your router also needs to assign the Sure Signal with a DNS (Domain Name Server) address via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).
Post your router/ISP details and Sure Signal serial number.
If you’ve done all of the above, or you’re struggling with configuring your router, please post your router's make and model number below. Please also include your Sure Signal serial number and the name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
We find that other users of the same router will usually be able to share tips with you, to get things working.
We’ll also attempt to help with this, but due to the number of different manufacturers and models, it is not always possible. We don’t officially support any form of router configuration, so we’ll always recommend contacting your router manufacturer or ISP for assistance first.
Thanks,
Jenny

Hey tech guys
Can I get a resync for my suresignal please?
Serial: 21228232605
External IP: 37.235.41.60
Ping is 50ms with 3ms Jitter
Speed DL is 8.51, UL is 6.99.
Basically I used my SureSignal last when I lived in Sheffield and had zero signal, and then didn't really need it in my last house but now I'm up in the shetlands and the signal is shall we say patchy. Anyway... I think a resync is probably going to get me up and running again. All the relevent ports are open it just hasn't been on your network in a long time!.
Cheers guys!

Hi Samman157,
I’ve just resynced your device for you so, to make sure the resync completes, can you perform a factory reset:-
Let me know how you go on.
Hi MacShemp,
Is the Sure Signal plugged directly into the Home Hub 3? If you bypass the Home Hub 3 completely, does the Sure Signal then work? If you can post your Sure Signal serial number then we can take a look from our end.
Thanks
Andrew

Hey Andrew. Thanks for getting back to me. I've done the reset but I'm still getting a flashing light 2.
After the reset, it looked like it would work for a while, flashing the lights saying it was updating itself. Then when that finished, it just went back to a solid power and flashing @ light. Frustrating!

A slight development... I now have solid power and @ but nothing else... Is that better or worse?

Hi I have been trying to connect for over a week now.
I have tried numberous resets, both hard and just powering down. I have tried my BT router and my netgearwndr3700 router. I have also now tried my netgear router with custom firmware.
With each router I have tried opening all the required ports, and also placing the router into the DMZ.
I have tried connecting directly to a port on the router and through network switches.
Each time I have one solid light and a flashing second light even after waiting over 24 hours.
With the custom firmware I am able to see connections when the SS starts and then it settles to this single connection
Proto WAN Host/LAN Host Bytes Up/Down L7 Proto
udp | 88.82.13.170:4500 suresignal:4500 | 32.969 KBytes 24.703 KBytes |
Can suggest anything else I can try. The only thing I am not able to change is the MTU to 1500 as I am connected via PPPoE.
Many thanks

As you can see by my router logs there is a constant connection between my SS an upd 212.183.133.179:4500.
Can you confirm that you can see I am connected at your end?
Is there anything else you can do to help me get this SS working again it is the main reason I chose the vodafone network as I have poor recepton at my office.
Many thnaks

Hi Samman157
Thanks for coming back to us. As you've tested this Sure Signal in a different location and still experienced the same you may have a faulty box. I've sent you a PM if you could reply back we'll see what we can do for you.
You can find your PM inbox here. If you can't access this link, please ensure that the box next to "Turn on private messages" is ticked on this page, and let us know if you need any further assistance.
MacShemp - I have re-synced the Sure Signal for you if you could do a re-boot and let us know if it makes any difference.
Thanks
Sukhi

Hi
Thanks I now have lights 1 and 2 on solid. Does that mean that the connection has progressed? If I wait will I get the 4th light on. (Think that's the correct lights but can quite remember)
Cheers

There was a lot of activity on the SS.
I had light 1 solid then lights 1 solid and light 2 flashing then lights 1 and 2 solid and light 4 flashing. It kept repeating this pattern for a while.
During this time I could see connections to port 123, 500 and 4500 amungst others
It now seems to have settled down but unfortunaly I'm back to light1 solid and light2 flashing with a single upd connection:
udp 88.82.13.177:4500 -> suresignal:4500
Is this a normal patterns or has it failed to connect again?
