Messages on the galaxy s7 help

Hi,

Even though I am having major network problems in my area 12 days with very intermittent signal, I have decided to stay with Vodafone (you have no idea how close I was to leaving), so I have upgraded my S5 to an S7 on pay monthly contract.

For some reason I cannot get text messages to come through, the S5 picked up a message from work, both phones were in front of me but only the S5 received the message, I have been through the settings the only thing that seems amiss is the Rich Messaging box keeps popping up on the S7, I enter my mobile number and it goes away but will pop up again wanting the number.

Can't switch sims as my S5 has a micro sim and Vodafone sent me a Nano Sim which the S7 uses, driving me loopy, want to use my new phone but can't take it anywhere until the messages are reliable, so still using the S5.

Any one can help me please.

Hi,

The network shops and £1 discount shops hsve plastic SIM card adapters thst the nano sim sits in to temporarily make it a larger size.

Googling around I've seen this which may / may not be relevant.

"Messages -> Settings -> Default messaging app-> Rich Communications -> then you can untick the box"

Thanks for reply, what I have done which may help is actually register the new nano sim on Vodafone

I had assumed that when I ordered the new phone it was going to be activated already, the sim swap will take around between 20 mins and 12 hours so will know before morning hopefully.

As for Rich Communications, I was using the app on the S5 without any problems.

Will post up if the sim swap works.

Yes the SIM card that is sent out is a blank SIM card awaiting a sim swap if necessary.

It usually takes minutes but occasionally up to 24 hours to complete.

Service would stop stop on the original SIM card first which indicated the sim swap has begun. Then turn the s7 off and on every 20 minutes or so to help the process.

Thanks, all sorted now, I had to ring Vodafone and do the sim swap over the phone, only took a few minutes :Smiling:
