Mobile Broadband - DNS Error

sbell
Not applicable
My mobile dongle was working fine. A couple of days ago there was a notice about an update which would be applied the next time I used the dongle.

Since then, I can use the internet briefly. I can login to facebook, but when I try to logout I get a can't find dns error message, doesn't complete the logout of facebook and won't let me navigate to any other internet site either.

Any suggestions on how/when this can be fixed?

Thanks

Hi there sbell,

Very strange indeed. Could you do me a massive favour and try the dongle in a different machine? I'm just trying to ascertain whether the problem is dongle or machine specific.

Let me know then we'll be more enlightened on how to proceed.

I'm using it my mac and it seems ok (I was using it on a windows 7 notebook). However I have a faster connection speed at the moment, I had problems the last couple of days and I barely had a connection. I was able to connect the notebook to a wireless broadband and a wired connection and it could access the internet (after it failed to with the dongle). If I look at the Ipconfig with the dongle inserted there is no dns entry. Running the windows diagnostic says the problem is with the lack of dns. I've just looked at the dongle's tcp/ip set up on the mac and it has a dns entry.

While I have been typing this the dongle has just dropped its PPP connection again.

I guess the question is what should the dns be and how to I add it to the dongle's connection on the windows computer?

Thanks,
