Mobile Broadband - Loss of 3G signal to 2G

Dear Vodafone,

I have for 2.5 years now had a fast speed internet dongle with a 5GB cap which is 7.2mps very fast - i have had no problems and i am well over my initial 18 month contract now. For the past 6 weeks it has reverted to 2G and this now take between 5 minutes and 15 minutes to refresh when i am surfing the internet. I have contacted @vodafoneUK on twitter and have looked on the webpage for faults in this area and there has been nothing at all. I am at a total loss to why this is happening when my blackberry on vodafone payg is running on 3G.

I would like someone to actually look into this problem, as i really cannot continue using and paying for a service that is slower than dial up telephone from 10 years ago.

I have spoken to @vodafoneUK several times now and have been told that there was a fault two weeks ago, but this has been going on for 6 weeks post code are DY8 3EQ.

I look foward to a responce!

Regards

DCB

Hi DCBAKER and welcome to the Vodafone eForum. :)

I have checked coverage at DY8 3EQ, and though not perfect, you do have 3G coverage there, your closest site being located at Racecourse Lane DY8 2RN. There are also no ongoing faults on any of the local sites.

You've already stated your Blackberry is successfully connecting to 3G, so this in itself shows it not to be a site or coverage issue. It's likely to be the device or SIM that's at fault. If you call the 191 customer care service, or visit your closest store, you can collect, or order, a new SIM. If you've still got the same issue, then it would be your modem itself that's faulty.

As your contract has expired, the warranty on the modem would of also expired. However, you could upgrade your account, and get a new modem. :)

If you were to do this, but still experienced 3G issues, you still have 7 days to try out and return this, without being held to the commitment.

Let me know how you get on.
